The Importance of Showing Your Sanitation

According to a poll done by Morning Consult, only around 37% of the people questioned said they would feel comfortable going out to eat. That’s less than half of the population.

To encourage people to change their minds and venture out to restaurants and bars, the foodservice industry is going to have to step up their sanitation game. We know all the hard work you are putting in behind the scenes to keep your establishment as safe as possible, but your customers don’t. We’ve provided some options below to help you showcase your sanitation efforts.

  • Implement hand-sanitizing stations – Make it easy for staff and customers alike to sanitize their hands. The hand-sanitizing station from Iowa Rotocast Plastics has a foot pump and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The integrated pump stroke adjustment allows users to control how much sanitizer they dispense, and the unit is designed to fit a variety of one gallon bottle and pump sizes.
  • Use shields in new places – Shield and barriers are an easy way to improve customer confidence and can be placed almost anywhere: hostess tables, cashier stands, front-of-house dispensers, between seats, and more.
  • Make sure they see your staff washing their hands – You can’t just assume your customers know that you are doing everything possible to keep them safe. You have to show them.
  • Downloadable menus – Did you know that menus are the dirtiest tabletop items? According to a study done by the University of Arizona, menus tend to have around 185,000 bacterial organisms on them. Luckily, this one’s an easy fix. Switch to a downloadable menu. You can use a QR code or direct visitors to a web page using tabletop signs.
  • Touch-less or single-use options – Keep an eye out for new touch-less or single-use equipment and smallwares to incorporate into your workflow.
