Since our inception in 1936 as Rapids Inc., Rapids Contract & Design has grown tremendously. Rooted in the beer industry as the creator of the world’s first direct draw beer dispenser, we’re well equipped to handle all of your bar and beverage needs as well. Today, we are a full-service foodservice equipment and supplies dealership, and comprehensive design and consulting provider with three metropolitan locations throughout the United States.

We are highly competitive in any market, and our commitment to our numerous industry leading vendors and our loyal customers has been observed by industry professionals on all sides – in 2015, we were honored with the coveted Foodservice Equipment Reports Management Excellence Award.
In addition, Rapids continues to solidify our position by remaining at the cutting edge of new technologies and advances by actively participating in regular vendor training seminars, visiting vendor manufacturing facilities, and attending pertinent industry tradeshows and conventions. All in an effort to better serve our loyal customer base.
Union Depot Bar & Grill
This historic space needed to accommodate breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as event catering for up to 800 guests—all in a 1926 neo-classical structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. With formal event and meeting spaces, casual dining spaces, multiple bars, and outdoor event space, the large commercial kitchen called for more than 200 pieces of equipment, including a state-of-the-art beer system. However, venting from the limestone building was limited, requiring a special pollution control unit. Rapids procured vent-free, energy-efficiency kitchen equipment to accommodate this historic building’s limitations.
