Specializing in Global Fusion and offering everything from rice bowls and tacos to macarons and muffins, their distinctive menu is a result of their background and experience in wholesale catering. Rapids was thrilled to help them expand that business to an actual restaurant via our commercial kitchen design services.

“We went to a couple different places first, but then we decided to go with Rapids after talking with them… friendly staff, a lot of good people work there.”

Linn-Mar High School Video Testimonial

Linn-Mar High School underwent a cafeteria renovation in an effort to increase efficiency to be able to serve up to 400 students in 10 minutes to give them ample time to enjoy their meals.

Luke Green and the design team were incredible. They observed prior to the remodel, they were able to identify our problem areas, and really worked to just streamline everything. Luke was available for every single question and provided updates along the way. It was really amazing and I would have to say we are 100% satisfied with the final result of this project.”

Rick A. Ironside, Ed.D. Executive Director of Support Services Linn-Mar
The Linn-Mar Community School District utilized the services of Rapids Foodservice Contract and Design for the remodeling design and construction of the Linn-Mar High School kitchen in 2016. The kitchen design work, kitchen equipment selection, installation and start-up of foodservice equipment was directed by Luke Green, Contract and Design Specialist for Rapids Foodservice in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

On behalf of Mr. Green, I write this DRS letter of recommendation to emphasize the professional dedication exhibited by Mr. Green as he ensured this kitchen project was completed on time for the start of the 2016-2017 school year.

I believe it is important to highlight the work undertaken by Mr. Green for this kitchen remodeling project. Mr. Green provided:

  1. The architectural design team and the school district several design options for a challenging location and a very short construction design timeline.
  2. Hands-on work with the school district to recycle and remove existing kitchen equipment prior to the start of the construction phase.
  3. Professional consultation during the construction phase to ensure accurate installation of all kitchen appliances.
  4. Technical support and oversight for the start-up of all appliances.

In addition, Mr. Green has provided timely services to address warrantee repairs of some kitchen appliances.  With all the professional services provided, Mr. Green has provided exemplary services to the Linn-Mar School District and is deserving of the recognition of DRS of the Year and I fully support his candidacy for that award.

We would like to recommend the services of Rapids Equipment Supply and especially the individual talents of Troy L. Troy has been helping us “Raise the Bar” to achieve our goals in terms of reducing franchisee start-up costs and increase the number of new stores. We have found it necessary to partner with people that share our same core values. Troy is someone that has performed as an extension of our Pita Pit culture. In the future, it would be my pleasure to speak in Rapids or Troy behalf to anyone interested.

It was strongly suggested by my Franchise that I go with a “known” supplier to ensure a successful startup. I could have said this one week after I first met Troy and his Team and I continue to say it today; there is no one in this business that could do it better! I made the right choice and I would do it again and again! I have never once had hesitation or regret with choosing Rapids Wholesale due to leadership and wonderful support I received from Troy L.

I am incredibly grateful for the work CRS does for Au Bon Pain. I think it’s worth every penny we pay given the amount of time and energy you save the A/P department in general and me personally. The errors I find are few and far between and most of the time, totally understandable given the volume of productivity.

I really enjoyed working with Luke.  I am comfortable with him and I feel that he is not trying to just “sell” me something, but trying to find solutions that work for me in the long run.  He has ideas that make my operation run more smoothly.  I will ask for him first, whenever I need something.

We have worked with Rapids on several school projects during my 15 year tenure as Nutrition Services Manager. From new kitchen construction and full kitchen remodel to problem solving regarding smaller equipment requirements, they have met every need. In the school nutrition world of competitive bidding, Rapids is frequently awarded our projects as a result of their competitive pricing. The specialists at Rapids are true professionals in all aspects of their work. Customer service is high priority and they always go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. They are a large company who have been able to maintain a “small town attitude” in reference to serving their customers.

Steve, Tyler, Eric and Tony,

Thank you all so much for doing such a wonderful job with the recent equipment orders.  You knew the orders were on a rush status and you pushed hard to get the necessary information to make the orders happen.  You have also kept up great communication throughout the last couple months to ensure we had what we needed and that everything was flowing properly.

The entire process has gone even more smoothly than I hoped it would, and I have you all to thank for it.

I appreciate your attention to these orders.  You made this unusual “adventure” a really great one! :)

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Both David Horsfield, Hospitality Arts Department Chair and Nick Wymore, Director of Food and Beverage, respectively of The Kirkwood Center for Hospitality Arts and The Hotel at Kirkwood Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, are writing with great pleasure this letter to recommendation in support of Luke Green as DSR of the year.

We’ve had the pleasure of Luke Green supporting our departments the last 7 years, where he’s played many roles to support our mission. The primary support role Luke has played for our organization has been his involvement with our teams by helping in the classrooms. Luke comes in throughout the semesters and educates our students on how to design and develop a restaurant, as well as educate them on products and equipment. Luke heavily supports our operations through updates on new and discontinued products, and provides timely updates on price changes that impact our operations.

What we’re most impressed and satisfied with is his consistency. This industry changes staff members regularly, and Luke has helped in those transitions by spending time with new department heads and instructors that control expenses and works with them to get acclimated on how his purchasing process works, builds a great relationship with them so they can reach out to Luke as needed, and communicates with our teams in a timely fashion.

We highly recommend Luke for DSR of the year. With Luke’s continued support we continue to be a leader in our market and have consistently been recognized over the last six years with AAA’s Four Diamond Award. Additionally, thanks in part to Luke’s support, the Culinary Arts Program was recently recognized as being ranked in the Top 20 Culinary Schools in the country by Best Choice Schools.

Rapids Foodservice Contract and Design was awarded the bid on two of our most recent new kitchen projects. In all my experiences with foodservice contractors, Rapids has proven to be the most proficient and professional. Both projects had to be completed this past summer with training taking place prior to school starting. Equipment installation happened when they said it would, training was scheduled with all manufarurer representatives, school kitchens opened as promised, and punch list items were taken care of in a timely manner. during the entire project, the Contract and Design Specialist and Project Coordinator handled all matters very professionally…

When moving Yummy’s to a new location in Fairfield, I worked with Matt P. & Christy H. Christy helped me design the entire layout from retail to kitchen space. Her design was a perfect fit; I would highly recommend working with Christy. Matt helped me with all of my questions & equipment needs; his wonderful customer service has earned Rapids my business for many years to come.

Rapids went above and beyond by walking me through design, equipment selection, and permitting. My Rapids representative worked diligently to  save money and even informed me when I could go with a less expensive piece of equipment. Having a very small space to create a kitchen, Rapids design was impressive in their use of space. Any cook would love this kitchen!
Pat Geary
Pat Geary Story Construction
On behalf of the entire Story Construction family, I’d like to congratulate Rapids Foodservice Contract and Design for being nominated for our 2015 Subcontractor of the Year Award. As you may know, this is an award presented each year during our Annual Industry Appreciation Event and is significant because nominations are made by our project managers, engineers, superintendents and estimators. As a result, you should be proud that Rapids Foodservice Contract and Design stood out among our subcontractors as a firm that represents reliability, quality workmanship, qualified personnel and on-time performance, while being cost-effective, innovative and concerned about safety. On the nomination form, the Story employee who selected your firm cited these reasons: Eric Schmitt has been good to work with. He is polite, professional and personable. Submittals were well organized and timely. Eric looked ahead and asked to coordinate with others. He saw some problems ahead of time and drew attention to them early. I am not used to seeing the level of planning and coordination I have seen here in a subcontractor. We hope you will share these comments with everyone at Rapids Foodservice Contract and Design and let them know we truly value our relationship with you.

Working with Rapids Contract Group was a great experience. They listened to our service needs, methods of prep., flow of products and people to help create our design. The result was an amazing and unique retail cafeteria at the Metropoint Business Complex.
