Maple Grove Elementary School

Maple Grove Elementary is a new construction project that is part of Cedar Rapids School District’s Phasing Program. This is one of many new facilities Rapids has been awarded that is being constructed to update and modernize the district’s aging school infrastructure. The ultimate goal of the program is to build Future-Ready Facilities including 10 new elementary schools and renovate 3 others over the next 15-20 years. According to the district website, 6 middle schools and four high schools are also being proposed. “Most CRCSD school buildings were built before the 1950s, and some are more than 100 years old.”

Clearly, student’s nutritional needs will be a key component in this vision, and our teams are excited to be a part of this process, providing our expertise in design and project management to help prepare our children and the future leaders of our communities.

The scope of the services provided include procurement and installation of a full commercial kitchen equipment package. Additionally, special consideration was made to address the students’ special needs due to their age range. For example, in the serving lines, the service counters are at different elevations to accommodate for self-service (and staff-service) specifically to meet the physical development of the young students being served.
