Luke Green: 2021 ACE All Star!

When Kirkwood Community College started their process of selecting their 2021 All Stars of the ICR (Iowa City / Cedar Rapids) region, they looked for people who have made a huge impact in their field, who were poised to continue that tradition, and who will inspire the next generation of professionals to do the same.

Rapids’ Luke Green fits that description to a T. He’s won multiple awards during his tenure at Rapids, and is well-known for being both detail- and solution-oriented in every aspect of his job. His dedication has allowed him to successfully tackle a number of difficult projects, including a church in Des Moines that offered several unique challenges:

The kitchen was in the basement of a historical building, so we had a lot of pre-planning in the design to make sure we could get the equipment in. The church was also simultaneously running a before- and after-school program, as well as serving free meals each day, so they had to remain open during construction with a temporary kitchen.

Luke started at Rapids in 2005 working in the warehouse, eventually moving into the Contract & Design Specialist position in 2011.
