Jason Wacker, Rapids’ very own Contract & Design Specialist, embodied the #RapidsCares program when he recently donated some of his time to help put together ready-made meals for the guests of Haven House in St Louis, MO.
Jason and the other volunteers were able to put together more than 120 nutritional meals for patients that visit Haven House, a hospitality facility that provides lodging, meals, support services, and transportation at a reduced rate to people who travel more than 25 miles to St. Louis to receive medical care. These services are also available to patients’ family members, meaning those undergoing medical treatment can have their support system with them every step of the way.
Hospitality houses like Haven House are important because of the unique way they increase healthcare access: removing the additional financial burdens that usually come with a prolonged hospital stay. Those who can’t afford a multi-night hotel stay or decent meals while their loved one is undergoing treatment now have another option, and that can make all the difference. #RapidsCares
