Delivering Excellence in Every Moment
January 2020

Nathan Deeney

IT Department & Coding

Nominator: Kendra Hatcher

For: Being a Problem Solver

“Nathan started his Christmas vacation on the 23rd of December and let me know if I needed anything to not hesitate to call. It just so happened that I did not hesitate. Christmas Eve there were issues with a new customer location not being able to tag their location. There were also some issues in regards to our system that contacts the on-call tech when a certain customer places a service call. I called Nathan on Christmas Eve to see if he knew an easy fix for either of these two issues. Unfortunately neither were an easy fix. Nathan spent quite a long period of time working on the programming for both of these issues, on Christmas Eve and on vacation none the less, to resolve the problems. Nathan went above and beyond to ensure that CRS was working smoothly over the holiday. I ended up having to call Nathan a couple of times more while he was on vacation and he helped me out. Thank you Nathan for you hard work and dedication to keeping CRS running even on your time off!!!”

Words from our Vice President, Eric Schmitt:

First, it should be said that we genuinely hope that none of our team has to spend time away from family and friends on a holiday like Christmas. I think this is a pretty amazing example though of Nathan working incredibly hard to make sure his teammate could have some much needed relaxation as well rather than letting things slide and leaving a coworker without any means of clearing their plate for an important new client coming on board. We all know how easy it is to completely shut off during our time off, and as I said before, time off should be just that, time off. However, there are some emergency instances where our colleagues need us and it takes amazing character to know when those times are upon us. Not only did Nathan take time away to help his teammate, he created some creative solutions to help get everyone across the finish line. For those of you that don’t know, Nathan is one of our two programmers on staff. He is a creative person by nature, helping CRS bring its ChainBase tool to a whole new level during his time with us. You wont hear him bragging about what he has done, but if you are ever in our Marion office and have a minute to catch up with Nathan when he isn’t being a problem solver for our clients and his team, ask him about the work that he and Chad Knipfer are doing. Its truly amazing stuff. We are so pumped that his efforts have been recognized and hope that while we hope that all of you can have work free vacations, his example is an important one in demonstrating that in critical situations, we may be the most necessary person to helping our team get through a tough challenge. Being willing to take the call and help is about as excellent as it gets!

Prize:

In recognition of Nathan’s DEEM honor he will be given “Mind Your Ping” t-shirt and entered into our Year End Employee of the Year voting. Thanks again, Nathan, and all of the incredible Rapids & Affiliates team for the work you do every day to Deliver Excellence in Every Moment!
